Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you work with?

I specialize in working with teens, young adults, and adults, starting at age 13 and up. Any clients younger than this typically would benefit from more play-based and/or family based therapy, which I am not currently offering on a regular ongoing basis. Ask me for a referral if you need!

What is holistic therapy?

I treat the body, mind, and spirit concurrently, meaning that we will be incorporating your whole self into the session and considering all of the environmental and internal factors playing into your mood and wellbeing. I believe the body is one of our greatest sources of wisdom and healing, and incorporate somatic (body-based) tools into almost every session. Other examples might include supporting with nutrition and intuitive eating, discussing how race and privilege have impacted your wellbeing and worldview, creating a mindful movement plan, or recommending books and practices to explore your spirituality such as with meditation or shadow work. These are optional and only suggested when these aspects of care are invited. I also provide referrals for and collaborate with other holistic practitioners such as acupuncturists, massage therapists, breathwork instructors, reiki energy healers, yoga therapists, and more. Again, these are only to be utilized at your discretion, but I’ve found them to pair beautifully with psychotherapy.

What is your rate?

$150 per 50 minute session.

Do you accept insurance?

I am no longer accepting insurance due to the barriers it has caused to providing quality of care. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, and may set limits on the type, length, and frequency of therapy. While a diagnosis can help to understand symptoms and direct a plan for treatment, it can also put people into boxes and categories that don’t encompass their whole resilient self. Additionally, diagnoses can be inhibiting for employment opportunities and coverage in the future. You deserve to feel at peace, and seeking further skills and education for your mental health is a strength, not a limitation.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

I do have a limited number of sliding scale slots. Priority is given to clients who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or can demonstrate financial need. Please inquire for further information.

How frequently will we meet?

I will make recommendations based on the level of severity of your symptoms and concerns, but I will always leave it up to you as to how frequently you would like to meet, as this is your process. Most clients start out weekly, and then taper down to every other week, and then monthly, as skills are learned and more easily practiced. I am flexible with this, as long as it is medically appropriate, because I know frequent meetings can be cost prohibitive and it is important to me to make healing accessible.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

I offer both in person and virtual appointments- whatever is going to make you feel most comfortable. My office is located in North Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, the space is not ADA compliant- please let me know if this is a concern and we can either meet virtually or I can make a referral to a more accessible space.

Can you prescribe medication?

No, I can not prescribe medication but I work closely with trusted holistic psychiatric nurse practitioners who can recommend and prescribe medication and/or supplements, if this is something you are looking for or may benefit from.
